It doesn’t do any good if everyone voted on all legislation via the internet. It has all the same problems as you point out in this post, but in addition, the legislation being voted on is key. If this legislation is not developed in a deliberative way by truly representative bodies, then universal voting does nothing. In fact, this is close to the initiative process you mention in this post.
